Green Book, Prospectus¹ or Prefects' List²

We have no record of Green Books during the war years nor for the years after 1970.
The 1981 Prefects List is the only roll information to have been discovered for the period 1971-1984.

The magazine numbering follows the calendar year not the school year.

The February 1939 issue is Volume L Number 1 - The Golden Jubillee Issue - and records some of the history of the magazine.

The magazine numbering follows the calendar year not the school year. The May 1935 issue is numbered Vol. XLVI No. 2 even though it was published during the third term of the school year that started in September 1934.

The name ELAN was introduced in 1966 but no month of issue was shown and the numberering became vol. 1 no. 1.

The school magazine commenced in 1886 and with some gaps due to War and evacuation to Bangor continued usually with two issues a year running up to 70 pages in length until 1975 (?). The magazine the name was changed to Elan in 1966, and the format was also changed somewhat.

This is a preliminary list of copies held in the Liverpool Record Office (H373.22.INS):

1908-1920 not held. It is not known whether production continued throughout the War.
(There is a copy of the 1914 issue on display outside the Learning Resource Centre in LIPA.)

The British Library (PP.6145.bmb) holds only a run from Sept. 1925 to 1965. It is not known why the Magazine eventually ceased publication ten years prior to the school's closure.
